MENARDS RACING NOTES - POCONO

Sprint Cup Car Notes - Menards-Pittsburgh Paints Chevrolet Impala SS

Sprint Cup Primary Car: Dale Earnhardt Inc. Chassis #038
Last Used:   Menard’s primary car for this weekend’s Best Buy 400 was last run at Bristol Motor Speedway in March, where Menard qualified 17th and raced his way up to 12th place before being involved in a lap 280 accident. Despite the damage to his Chevrolet, Menard was extremely happy with the car all day and has high hopes for this particular car this weekend.

Overall Notes of Interest
The Menards Racing/Dale Earnhardt Inc. team springboards from a busy week of testing into racing at “The Monster Mile” in Dover, Delaware this weekend.

Coming off a few weeks of bad luck on track, Menard knows Dover International Speedway is a track that could turn things around for the team.

Menard’s lone Sprint Cup Series start at the track resulted in a 21st place finish at the track last September.

Menard’s Crew Chief Doug Randolph has been instrumental in the driver’s early season success. Randolph credits Menard’s positive outlook for some of the momentum that had been building over the first 10 weeks of the season, when Menard turned in seven solid top-25 performances.

Pocono Quotes:

Paul Menard on the race:
“I’ve always enjoyed racing at Dover. We’ve had some great runs going there in the Nationwide car and we had a solid finish there last fall. That race was interesting, lots of action and the name of the game was survival,” Menard said of the race that saw 13 cautions for a total of 66 laps. “Racing at Dover is like going for a ride on a roller coaster. There’s no other track that gives you that exact feeling. You shoot in the corner like a bullet. I don’t think our results at Dover show how strong we’ve been there and that’s what I hope to change this weekend.”

Crew Chief Doug Randolph on the race:
“Paul remains focused no matter what’s happening on track and from what I can tell he really like racing at Dover. For a driver to go to a track thinking “I like this track” is a real boost for the whole team.”
